About Satellite Thematic Sessions (STS)

To meet many inquiries about a  possibility of organizing thematic events during the 6ECM, larger than mini-symposia, the organizers the 6ECM offer their help to participants of the 6ECM interested in organization of the Satellite Thematic Sessions (STS). The STS are intended to be similar to the thematic sessions at the national and bilateral meetings of the mathematical societies. They STS will be held in Kraków, in close time and space proximity of the official 6ECM programme. More precisely:
  • STS should be focused on a well defined field or a single mathematical topic.
  • Mathematicians interested in the organization of the STS should fill out a form providing a title and description of the session and an estimated number of speakers of this session, as well as some names of the speakers. Application form is available at the Registration&Fee / Satellite Thematic Sessions application tab.
  • Applications can be submitted till April 30, 2012. Decisions will be made by the Executive Organizing Committee within 30 days from submission of the electronic application form.
  • The organizer of a satellite session is responsible for inviting all speakers, who should be registered participants of the 6ECM. The organizer may be one of the speakers.
  • STS will be planned in the afternoons during the scientific activities of the 6ECM and whole day on Sunday, July 1 and Saturday, July 7, 2011. A session planned from Monday till Friday should not be longer than 4 hours (up to 8 talks). Sessions planned on Sunday and Saturday can be of any length.
  • STS's will be held in a short walking distance from the Auditorium Maximum, in the lectures rooms of the Agriculture University of Krakow and AGH University of Science & Technology.
  • The list of registered satellite sessions (title, organizer) will be posted at the portal www.6ECM.pl. The organizers of the session is responsible for maintaining a web-page with the detailed program of the session to which a link will be given at the 6ECM website.
